A top scientist and an enormously wealthy man both enter heaven with a suitcase each. The scientist brought with him, his extensive research notes. The wealthy man brought with him 20 gold bars. The scientists research notes were worthless, since God spoke the universe into existence, and the notes could not come close to explaining how that happened. The wealthy mans gold bars were used as paving stones, since the streets of Heaven are paved in gold. What we value here on earth will not be so highly valued in Heaven. Why not "store up your treasure in Heaven?" By deeds of love, kindness, charity and self sacrifice?

Well, it's obvious that everyone's missed the point of the story which is that things that we think are so important here on earth will mean nothing to God when He judges us.
Of course scientific knowledge and money are important in the here and now! That wasn't what the story was about though. It was about preparing to meet your God.

Matthew 6:24
"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money."
Matthew 19:23-24
Jesus said,"I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

I respect your question and I agree with you on the point of what we should be stocking up on but I had to tell you that between you and one of the answers you received about Hershey I just got an aweful good brainstorm for a lawn or garden ornament... golden Hershey bars. Thank you both.

Gold is a soft and toxic metal that would easily be abraded. It is possibly the stupidest choice one could make for a paving material.

That right! Throw away learning! Don't let your kids go to school!

Never question anything, ever!

Questions are the spirit of Satan, and schools are ran by the devil himself.

Why didn't I see it before, I shall never read another book again

What does the bible say about the rich getting to heaven?? You won't be able to take it with you! But, every religion I know about, desire these qualities you've listed.. It is our nature to do so!

Ha ha ha ! cute story.
But, we all benefit when things like medical science has progressed where it is helpful. Though not always, I do appreciate it when doctors have taken the time to learn the skills that benfit me and my family's health.
