My son was just about her age when he, too, lost his.
We were at the beach and as fate would have it, it got buried.
We made a bad situation better by having the whole family do a half-fast search and naturally, as adults we couldn't be happier that the thing had at last disappeared.
My son was praised for being so grown up to help us search and praised some more for being able to finally need it no more.
That was the end of his binky? He never looked for it anymore either.
Perhaps you can stage a missing binky party for your daughter and give out prizes??
Just a thought and good luck to you.

There is a very cute, touching story book called "The Binky Ba-Ba Fairy". It is about a fairy coming to get the pacifiers to help new babies. It is by Heather, Knickerbocker-Silva.
I think it was also used on the show Supernanny. Put the pacifiers in a sack and put them somewhere outside and then the "fairy" takes the pacifier and leaves a note and a special gift for the "big girl" to thank her for helping with the new babies.
If you don't want to buy the book, just make up a story about the fairy or try the library. I got the book from the library. We put her pacifiers in a little felt bag we decorated it special for the binky fairy to find. We made it a special project. She still has the bag and the gift from the fairy and no binkies.

THE BINKY FAIRY needs to pay your daughter a visit. Tell her that there are lots of little boys and girls that do not have binkys. Have her help you put all of her binky's in a basket and tell her that the "binky fairy" will come at night and give her a gift. She will for sure do it! If she talks about it later, just remind her of all the babys that didn't have any binkys until she helped them out.

I had one friend with a 3.5 yo who was NEVER w/o his binky - he ate with it in one hand, and talked about it. One day they were at a park and he dropped it in the dirt and she said, "Let's throw that away - it's dirty. We'll get you another one at the store." Then for a couple of weeks when they were at the store she never went down that aisle and he forgot about it. She got off easy.
Another friend I had, about the time her binky-loving daughter was 3, started talking about the "Binky-stealing Puppy" who would come at night and take her binky and leave some presents. She talked about it for awhile then one night took her daughter's binky and left the presents, and the kid was okay with that.
For my son, when he was nearly 3 I cut off the tips [I had only let him have them at night since he was a baby anyway] and that took away the fun of sucking on them w/o my actually having to take them away.
I don't know if any of these will work for you. Every child is different. I have heard other moms say that they would never take a child's binky away because kids get little enough comfort in the world as it is. These were not, however, ladies with huge kids with binkies... Good luck with whatever you choose!

We did this with our 4 year old daughter. Last year Easter time. We told our daughter that we're going to give her binky to the easter bunny, and once she gives it to the easter bunny, she wont have it anymore. She understood and it worked. Good Luck in whatever you do.

do what the super nanny did, put them all in a bag, with her help and keep saying that the binky fairy needs to take them to the babies, shes not a baby anymore. then tie them outside to a tree and when she is in bed take it down and throw them away. the next day take her to the store and let her buy a barbie or stuffed animal

Take her to a store, let her pick out a new stuffed animal, after you get home - tell her you will let her have the new toy but first she MUST throw her binky in the trash!!!!!!!!!!!

Our friend's little boy is 3. He was peeing at daycare last week and it fell into the toilet. He freaked out for about a day and now he's OK. He occasionally asks about it still but he is OK.
I was 4 when my parents "lost" my "buddy"(pacifier) in a hotel room in KY. I was irate but got over it pretty quick.
Basically, a random act is the easiest way to get rid of it. Good Luck!

My sister threw out my nephew's when she felt he was getting too big. He cried for a couple days fot it then gave up. But that strategy may not be good for all kids. If you take it away, divert her attention eslewhere, play agame with or something completley off subject, she may just forget about it.
