The one I might go to is in Denver but I'd like to know experience anywhere. I'm on a budget and I want highlights/cut/style. I love Aveda products and it says they have consultants but I'm wondering if it might still be a bad student doing hair experience like a few other places I've been. Help!

Aveda schools are just like any other. Going there for a service is chancy - keep in mind that they are all still learning. You may get lucky and be with someone who has lots of experience in home haircutting and coloring, but you don't get to choose who takes you. I work at a salon and one of our clients was short on cash and decided to go to the Aveda school here in Chicago. She had her hair colored (all one color) and cut. She came to us that same day practically crying because her haircut was just hideous. Yet, her color was fine. The color formulations are done by instructors, so all over color is less risky. Highlighting requires skill in the application, so if you're afraid of looking stripy or having bleed marks - you'd be better off going to a slightly more expensive salon (at least they're licensed and have more experience). Good luck!

I had a facial done at Atelier, that uses Aveda products, in Santana Row in Santa Clara, Ca. I ran into Prince and his wife there in June 2004. And yes...it's a bit PRICEY.

If you ask the Denver location for an Aveda Salon location, I'm sure they would provide you locations of places to go. See for recommended establishments.

Go for the second opinion below me since she is a cosmetologist. I'm just yapping away.

Good luck!!
