i have really thick curly/wavy hair and i recently cut it short since i wanetd to spike it. i used american crew gel, but an hr or so after applying the gel, i lose the spiky/pointy look and my hair curls up, and it looks like a mess. anyone know what i should do? like should i straighten my hair, or get another brand of gel, and if so, what kind? also does blowdrying my hair after applying the gel help keep the hair from curling? thanx a lot

gel usually doesnt have enough hold to keep anything anywhere if you have curly hair.
before you go and get it chemically straightened, try a really good wax.
in aus, we have this stuff called rock wax, if u cant get it there, try ebay.
but that will pretty muh hold any hair. used to use it in my brothers mohawk, instead of wood glue.
works just as well, and washed out heaps easier

Try hair glue. It sounds really awful, but it isn't and it works. My son uses it all the time and his hair never moves.

Don't use a hairbrush or a blow dryer. Spike it wet and let it dry naturally.

well straighted it and then put gel in your hair and spike it!
