Plate armor, they might pull off the velcro on body armor and then you'd be in a world of hurt. It is unlikely they'd manage the fasteners on plate armor, and you can use it as a blunt weapon (best wear good thick clothes underneath) while they are trying. A gauntleted fist in the face should slow a zombie so you can get in a lethal chop with a broadsword or battle axe.

Soft body armor is protection against bullets, not non-existant, slow-moving, dim-witted... ZOMBIES. If you're worried about zombies then dress up in full body plate armor. THAT should also keep you from being bit by vampires n werewolves. LOL!

You don't need Armour just some wooden stacks, but beware they will get you in the end - you cannot kill the living dead - they are already dead

I would say neither, the best protection would be to , wake up or remember to take your medication.
