The pit would. Pits have an amplified kill-bite in their prey drive.

Do you people not know the meaning of a hypothetical question? (It HAS to be hypothetical, since no one who had spent the time and money to get a permit to keep a wolf would force it to fight)

Anyway ... in my personal opinion, if the two animals were in some kind of situation that forced them to fight, the wolf would win UNLESS the pit was a trained fighting dog. The wolf, being a wild animal, has sharper instincts and quicker reaction time, plus much larger jaws and teeth proportionate to its size. The wolf's thick coat also provides some protection from the dog's teeth.

If the pit was a trained fighting dog, it might win, since they do not generally back down even when severely injured in a fight. That's only a 'might' however. I still believe that the wolf's coat and likely experience fighting other wolves would still tip the scales in its favor.

I do not condone dogfighting as a sport, but this was clearly a hypothetical question, along the lines of, "Who would wreck my car first, my dog or my cat?" Obviously you wouldn't let them drive, but you might wonder.

The comment that wolf weigh less is wrong. Wolf weighs 70–135 pounds while pits weigh 40-70 lb. The heaviest wolf known was 175 lb. I don't know who would win, but wolf's teeth generate 1500 lb/inch^2 of pressure. Source: Wikipedia.

If your pitt is 100 lbs he is overwieght or mixed with another breed of dog like a mastiff or you have him on steriods. males generally weigh 40-70 lbs.

Wolves hunt in packs and would probably steer clear of your camping site. but on average weigh 70–135 lbs and probably all muscle.

In a hypethetical situation in my opinion a Wolf would win hands down.

The wolf and the Pit Bull would both win if the person pitting them against each other was put in prison before the match..

If running away counts as losing, then the pit bull would win. Wolves fight in packs, run off if alone.
