Just starting my research, but I want a unit that I can mostly use on my motorcycle so it should be waterproof. I will need it to be preloaded with street level maps or be capable of loading them. I'd also like to occasionally take it hiking so it should be lightweight and have a battery.
Not concerned about voice prompts, color would be nice but not absolutely necessary. Oh, and I'm not wealthy so under a couple hundred is desirable.
Any suggestions where to start?

I own a Personal GPS Unit myself I suggest the only brand that you should trust "Garmin". Best maps out there and a name you can trust. I tried them all and Garmin has the most accurate maps hands down.

Garmin Zumo 550 a little on the pricey end but it's the best you can get.
