i was hittin some great sound with the mtx's but since ive replaced them im afraid the place that installed all of this has wired my premier 12's for 4 ohm instead of 2 ohm. why did they do that? Also is there a way to get these mired back to 2 ohm, because they seemed alot more vivrant wired that way. Anyway whats the difference?

if its wired in 4 ohms it is roughly 1/2 the power you were pushing if they were wired in 2 ohms.you get more power at 2 ohms but the amp runs hotter because of it and can shorten the life of the amp

What is the voice coil configuration on those subs?

btw... this is a little off topic but you should really consider building a custom box for the SPL's - they are picky and are really well-designed for medium-tunes, medium sized ported boxes. They do really poorly in sealed boxes if that is what you have them in.
