Ok, I've been a member of Yahoo Answers for about a week now and I read question after question about Christians and Atheists not having any "proof" for their beliefs?
My question to Christians and Atheists alike is who really has proof for anything (the existence of God, scientific laws and theories, etc)??? Was anyone around before the Universe began to see how it all started, how it all holds together, and how it will end? Can anyone prove that God exists and/or that He made it all? Can anyone prove that gravity will exist tommorow? Can anyone prove that we are really here right now typing our answers to this question?
Please share your thoughts (respectfully please)?

TS, where do facts come from? Can we really say anything is a fact if we can't prove it will be a fact tommorow? Scientists have changed their "facts" all throughout history. Just ask the scientific minds of Columbus's time who thought he was crazy for thinking the earth was round.

Abel, I am a Christian and I agree with you 100% that God did perform all of these miracles and that God's Word is 100% true, but....you and I can't prove that these miracles actually happened or that God performed them. We believe He did by faith (it has to be faith because we weren't there when the events occured).

Skippy, this is good, but again, you are assuming that the computers we use today will work tommorow (and that the laws that govern the effectiveness that each diode and resistor in every computer will in fact exisist tommorow). You are also believing by faith what scientist say are facts. The fact is, not one of those scientists was there when the world "evolved" so none of them can say for sure that it did. They beleive it did by faith. Does this make sense?

Wolfgang92, that's cool. You bring up a good point too. Just because we can't prove something is true doesn't mean it isn't. We just can't prove it so we have to choose to believe it is or it isn't by faith.

natas6665, can you PROVE that these are lies? If so, where is this proof coming from? Another person's word? If so, then you are believing their words by faith. If not, you are trusting in your own beliefs by faith.

Earl D, That's very cool! Jesus did perform some amzing miracles (He was God so He could do ANYTHING). I guess my whole point to my question is to get bothe belivers and unbelievers to really think about what they believe and why and to realize that neither of us has any proof for anything. It's all faith!!!

Ranting Rach, I assume you are referring to the crusades and "believers" that killed unbelievers. I would never condone such behavior.
I think everyone is missing the point here.
When you say... "The fact that the earth revolves around the sun mean that the sun will rise tomorrow, and as long as the moon revolves around the earth we will have gravity" is again based on a belief (by faith) that the earth will always revolve around the sun, and that the laws of gravity will always exisit. There's no proof that they will. Sure, they have for a long time, but how can it be proven that they always will? We wake up in the morning and assume that the sun will rise because it always has, but this doesn't prove that it always will. It just strengthen's out faith in its consistancy. Know what I mean?
I just want everyone to realize that what we believe or don't beleive is based on faith, not facts. If there's no proof for anything then we can't really say there are facts.

Your question makes a lot of sense. No. No one can prove anything. Since time began people want answers.
Christians, have accepted Jesus as their personal Savior and His Holy Spirit lives in each one of them as much as they allow Him to. This personal relationship proves God to them.
Atheists choose to believe and trust other human beings and theories.
It's all in who or what you decide to follow. We have free will.

It wasn't the scientist's who thought that Columbus was crazy for thinking the world was round. It wasn't the scientists who thought Galileo was crazy for thinking the earth orbited the sun. It wasn't the scientists who tortured and executed anyone who thought something different to the teachings of the church.
The fact you are reading this post proves that I was here typing it. The fact that the earth revolves around the sun mean that the sun will rise tomorrow, and as long as the moon revolves around the earth we will have gravity.

Nope
It's all about reverse engineering
HOWEVER, the BIBLE existed LONG before the Big Bang Theory and they are quite close in general description
Jesus restored life to dead people with the touch of a hand and it's only been in the last 50 years he have CPR
YOu can CALL it coincidence if you like, but the BIBLE did SAY Jesus restored life with the touch of a hand.
THAT is a 2,000 year old fact of life.
And Jesus said WE COULD ALL DO IT
That's even more astonishing!
Jesus said we could walk on water. You may live to see the day that happens, but it could take another 1,000 years before science figures out how to work with surface tension.

I believe in God because of the hard evidence he exists: in the order of nature and the universe, man's superior intelligence and moral conscience. But the most incontrovertible proof of his existence is no other than Jesus Christ, the Image and Word of God and the Revealer of God our Father. He was sent by his Father not only to save and reconcile mankind. He was also sent so that men may come to know God. What human can:
Silence a typhoon?
Walk on water?
Multiply a few loaves of bread and fish in order to feed a multitude of 5,000?
Bring back dead people to life?
Give sight to people born blind?
Change water into wine?
Rise from the dead?
These miracles prove beyond any reasonable doubt that Jesus is what he claimed to be - God. They demonstrate Christ's power over life and death and the forces of nature. Only a God can have such powers.
And if these miracles were just made up, Christianity would not have grown by leaps and bounds in the first century. Many people witnessed these miracles. The resurrection of Jesus cannot be silenced because more than 500 people saw his resurrected body.
Peace and every blessing!

I have always thought the same thing, until I see proof of precisely what is right, I am not going to live my life with some dogmatic faith. Just live by the golden rule, do unto others, ya know?
And, just because we can't know the truth now doesn't mean we should stop searching, to me that is what science is really all about, thinking, exploring and growing. Wouldn't it be cool to have science be forced to prove God exists, that would be so niiiiiice. Heh.

The proof of God: zero
The proof of Science: For starters, the computers we're all using successfully. Look around, just about everything you see is a product of Science. Science WORKS. If you study science, you will find that every theory (such as evolution) must be backed up by evidence. It also must be predictive, and reviewed and tested extensively by other scientists (many of whom want nothing more than to prove you wrong)
The proof of Atheism: None is required. You need no evidence to support this position, as it asserts nothing.

I believed in God and in Jesus. I use to pray to Him in times of trouble because nobody can understand my problems and even if they did they cant help me. Miraculously they get answered. I use to think its co-incidence. In bible Jesus said,
As bad as you are, you know how to give good things to your children. How much more, then, will the Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!" Lu 11:13
The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and make you remember all that I have told you. Joh 14:26
So I asked God for Holy Spirit and few months to my amazement, astonishment, surprise I received Him. Just like Jesus said He helps me to live a life according to God's desire. I feel Him just as I can feel an object or anything, its so physical, so hard to explain. God is greatest and un-imaginable, so in-finite that our finite mind cannot comprehend. Thats y many who try to comprehend get confused with lots of things. It is better to accept Him in to our hearts and you cannot match His Love with anything else. I feel Him as a soft vibration, many have the experience in different kinds. I think we have to give us complete proof of His existence and tell others that He is there.

Oh, you're still a newby... you'll see one of those questions in almost every page.
Have fun with that.
About the proof... I guess the phrase "beauty is in the eye of it's beholder" says a lot about that, but in other words "Truth is in the eye of it's beholder".
In other words, it depends on who is seeing it.
Peace.

Rig Veda 10:129 -
Who really knows, and who can swear,
How creation came, when or where!
Even gods came after creation’s day,
Who really knows, who can truly say
When and how did creation start?
Did He do it? Or did He not?
Only He, up there, knows, maybe;
Or perhaps, not even He.
