was racist. Blacks were loud to have the priesthood or go to temple about 1970. The Mormon Church be live the Cain was cursed with dark skin. for his sin of killing his brother Abel. Older Mormons are more racist then current members preteens and young adults to today.

Because they do not look upon them as inferior unlike most racist. They believe they are or were cursed. However that does not in any way excuse such a degrading, insulting belief. That belief is very similiar to the one about women being cursed with their monthly cycles because of the legend of Eve biting the forbidden fruit first. Or the one where snakes were cursed by god to slither on the ground since it was a snake that tricked Eve. Remember everybody these are just fairy tales, legends created to give people an answer in a time of no answers. The real curse is when the bible is used to justify harmfull beliefs, and to falsly explain why some creatures be they animal or human are the way they are. It is that attiude that has greatly contributed to evils like the holocaust, terrorism, racism, homophobia and female oppression.

The Mormon Church never said this. One of their believers wrote the following in his book"
Joseph Fielding Smith, when he was an Apostle in the 1930s, wrote a book called The Way to Perfection, and in that book he wrote the following:
“Not only was Cain called upon to suffer, but because of his wickedness he became the father of an inferior race. A curse was placed upon him and that curse has been continued through his lineage and must do so while time endures. Millions of souls have come into this world with black skin and have been denied the privilege of Priesthood and the fullness of the blessings of the Gospel. These are the descendants of Cain. Moreover, they have been made to feel their inferiority and have been separated from the rest of mankind from the beginning.

This particular rumor you are happily spreading is in fact untrue. The Mormon church does not discriminate. Anyone who thinks they do is probably just not happy that the Mormon church, unlike others, isn't trying to appease them by telling them what they want to hear.
I never cease to be amazed at how many people work themselves into an absolute rage over things they heard ABOUT other people or groups, but not actually FROM those same people or groups. Have many Mormons told you this information? How many active members have you spoken with? Or did "someone" say it to you, did you just hear it "somewhere"? Why are you in fact so eager to believe it and so delighted to perpetuate it without having done anything more to substantiate it than to ask a question on Yahoo?
Think before you rush to accuse anyone of prejudice. You are quickly becoming unfoundedly prejudiced yourself.

Once again.... what you are saying IS NOT TRUE. I am Mormon and we do NOT think this. I can't figure where your info comes from.My husband is Samoan, does that mean I married a child of the devil because he is brown? I guess my children are little devils? ( well sometimes they could be) ha ha (it's a joke--- now somebody is going to say mormon's believe their children are devils) All I have to say to this is get your facts right before you post a comment such as this. Aren't there any other morms on line to help me clear up all these misconceptions?

I don't think the Book of Mormon says they are the devil, it just states that blacks were made black as a curse for unbelief. I know that's still pretty bad but if you want to see worse oppression check out Hinduism. They think if you are born poor you have been reincarnated into that class because of bad KHarma from something you did in a past life. They won't even try to cure some diseases because it is interfering with Kharma.

Mormons and blacks both have come in this world by the same nature's rule. When they say black, it's their black corner of mind where devils reside. Belief is belief and real is real. If you consider them for any thing, it is a belief too.

Because we do NOT believe any of that crap.
Why would so many black people want to be members of our church if that's how we believe? And believe me, the church in western Africa is growing by leaps and bounds. Even here in America, I see a lot of blacks joining our church. And there were blacks in our church even before 1978.
Like Amy (posted earlier), my husband is Samoan also. And we were brought together by a white/black couple, who were married in the temple. There are lots of inter-racial marriages and bi-racial members.
So, I don't know how THE CHURCH can be called racist. So, yes, call us out on that. We'll let our black members (and other non-white members) speak to you.

The question includes an inaccurate statement. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (known as Mormons) does not teach what you claim.
