Much!!! Most importantly interest on a home mortgage and certain taxes. See your IRS Instructions for 1040 and Schedule A. Go to your Library for JK Lasser, H&R Block and other tax help publications. Computer software such as Turbo Tax and Quicken are available. Call IRS Forms number for forms and free publciations. If you are not comfortable that you know what you are doing, get a professional tax preparer to help you at least the first year you choose to itemize deductions. That will be a good learning experience for you, and maybe you will feel confident to do your own tax return in the future.

Probably. But medical expenses are only deducitible above a certain threshold that's fairly high. So unless you paid a lot out of pocket last year, that probably won't help you.

There's no realistic way that anyone can list all the possible deductions for you here quickly without knowing your situation. You need to get a list of the usual deductions that come up most often and work through them. I've linked to one such list at Wikipedia.

If you have a high enough income to justify it, use TurboTax or TaxPro software. They will help you find every single deduction that applies to your situation.

Moving expenses if it was for work
Transportation over so many miles a day for work
If itemizing you can do food I think too like business lunches and that kind of thing. Alot of tax breaks for money spent to make money. The irs loves it when we are making money and are generous with expenses generated from the making of that money.
