I have had this for a while but keep getting distracted by swapping programmes with ones that are "meant to be better"
What are the best programmes for the person who uses internet a lot and enjoys music and video.
What are the BEST :
Anti-Virus
Spyware
Avi - DVD convertors/media convertors
Media Players-I currently use i-Tunes for mp3 and Windows Media Player, should I use Real Player?
Any other tips on a good system.

Anti-Virus - norton, mcaffee, doesn't matter

spyware - search and destroy & adaware

avi - nero for converting avis to dvd video

mp3s and audio - winamp
video - vlc player, kazaa codec pack & windows media classic player for all other video formats(i.e. - real media, quicktime, xvid, ogm, etc, etc...)

fileforum.betanews.com should have all the links for those downloads.

Anti virus, I would use something free that does not tie up a lot of resources like AVG... It will handle spyware too. I would use it together with something like adaware to block popups.

Use DVDShrink to dump DVD's.. I love this program and it is free.

For media I would use Winamp for music, it is really good for adusting sound and other levels, and you can put custom skins on it... RULE!

I also like windows media... it is free it catalogues a bunch of stuff for you and it has a bunch of codex's built in.

I love iTunes, however I have not really tried anything else ot do this feature.
