It doesn't matter. For instance, addictive behavior is supposed to be a "disease" but the person who is drinking or taking drugs is still responsible for his behavior. He can't get better until he admits he has a problem and desires to do something about it.
As far as Christianity goes (or any other religion based on the Old Testament) sexual behavior outside of marriage is a sin. It doesn't matter whether it's hetero or homo. The person who is committing the sin is responsible for it in God's eyes. On top of that, homosexual sex is a BEHAVIOR, not a condition. It doesn't matter what the homosexuals impulses are, he is responsible for his behavior. If he is a human being he is capable of restraining himself from doing things that he knows are wrong.
Why is everyone always trying to give homosexuals a free pass on their immoral behavior? How are they deserving of being relieved of any responsibility for their actions? I'm sure adulterers would love to have this same blanket absolution!
You can set homosexuals up as a special class of humans who can have sex with anyone they want, whenever they want if you want to. However God is not in the business of taking advice from humans about what He can and cannot consider to be wrong and sinful. And since God is God and we are not, I really think that He will be the final arbiter about whether or not a person is sinning.

An absent father has nothing to do with a child's future sexual orientation. That's just some lie that people push out there to keep their religious view of what a family looks like shoved down people's throats. It also undermines the hard work and respectable endeavors of single mothers. It has NEVER been scientifically proven that a child raised by a single mother has a greater chance of being gay. So, forget THAT nonsense.
Christians will tell you that homosexuality cannot possibly be genetic. If it were proven to be genetic, then everything they believe would come crashing down. How could God make someone homosexual but say homosexuality is wrong?! OMG! NOOOOOOOO! Of course, this is the same as: How can God give us sexual urges starting at the age of about 14, but say that sex for pleasure is wrong?
In the end, it doesn't matter where homosexuality comes from. What matters is that we are all people, and we should be kind to everyone. Christians and non-Christians alike have no right to hate anyone for who they are. (especially Christians, since the Bible says to not hate anyone.)

I really have no idea, but I don't think it will ever be proven (but if there is a gene that increases the probability of homosexuality, fine).
If it is proven, will it be a disorder like down syndrome or autism?
Because I reckon if you're born gay, you're set up to fail, because you wouldn't be willing to, you know, get together with a woman, do it and pass on your genes to the next generation (that's what a reproductive system's for, pal). Then you'd be too ineffectual an weak to look after her, and you'd also be targeted for extermination by homophobes, not to mention violent perpetrators who can't resist the smell of weakness....
And yeah, this is what I've heard. Without a good male role model (i.e. a father) to help him develop, a boy's more likely to become gay anda walkover, especially with a dominnering mother.

It could be a contributing factor but all of the people who are gay or lesbian has received some kind of abuse or another in their life or a parent was absent in their childhood or maybe their sisters dressed them as a little girl when they were a child. That is why they are who they are. They need to seek counseling. Some might deny they ever were abused or mistreated. Some just don't want to face it and denying the truth.

Yes
I've heard of a potential link.
There is also one for cancer as well
Not that I'm saying homsexuality is like a cancer. I'm just stating a fact that GENOMOLOGY is finding links to a variety of things. These are two of them
The date of your death is also there. At least your NATURAL death.
Science believes they will eventually be able to pin down, to within a year or so, when your body will TOTALLY fall apart.
It's all in the Genome. God's plan for life.
Everything is fixed and can't be changed, although Science is going to give it a good shot!

I read some research a few years back that said male homosexuality had to do with stress or trauma in the woman's second trimester when the testosterone is suppose to peak. Under stress the stress hormones in the woman's body prevent to peak in testosterone that normally happens then in the male fetus.

Because of Adam and Eve's disobedience, we are all born sinners. All of us can be homosexuals, murders, fornicators, thieves, adulterers or liars. Maybe even more than one of those. We all sin which is the reason that we all are born separated from God and do the things that He has told us not to do..
Jesus came to the earth for the purpose of becoming the blood sacrifice for the forgiveness of our sins. Those of us who will choose Him as our Lord and Savior and repent (which means to turn away from sin), will be given the free gift of eternal life with God.
God doesn't want anyone to be lost. That is why even though we are born sinners, He has provided Jesus for us. Not choosing Jesus is the only way that we remain separated from God.
Coming to Jesus for love, leadership and forgiveness is the way to go to Heaven. The only way.
I know of some men who have previously practiced homosexuality and made a decision to marry, love their wife and have children.
I do believe that sometimes specific events in someones life can cause them to make certain decisions.

Pervertion is caused by social and envirnmental influences. Every newborn is born free from sins, christain scientist are resorting to such theories to justify their belief in the theory of orignal sin and the crucification of Holy Christ by Jews.

not all christains think that gay people are bad.
Most christains get caught on looking down on others, because its easier than actually doing good.
Real christianity is about loving one another, the gay thing shouldn't be an issue

I'm pretty sure they already proved this years ago, well atleast I was taught that it was a truth, and that was when I was in HighSchool. And I myself have brought up this question to Christians before. The answer I usually get is something like, God gives us tests and if they are truly faithful they will pass. I guess meaning God is testing their faith between loving Him or loving sex? I don't know it kinda seems like a lame answer to me.
