I have a question for people who have made a recipe and substituted apple sauce for butter, how did it come out? Oh and, is the ratio the same, one cup of butter is one cup of apple sauce? I bake a lot, so I'm thinking about trying this out on my friends to see if they notice a difference.

I use applesauce in all my cakes now and nobody has ever said anything and I bake them at least 1 a week. i use the same amount as it calls for using oil or butter. once in awhile like our store brand cake i found does tend to be a little liter so it falls a part easier but no taste difference. And that problem did not happen with like Betty Crockers or Pillsbury cake mixes. I think it might even work in the cake like brownies.
