Okay I know this might sound weird, but this helps the butt a lot.
Lie down like a dog with both hands on the ground (parallel to your knees) and lift one leg back up in the air at an angle as far as it can go (comfortably)...then alternate legs. Do 20 on one side and switch to the other and do the same. You'll feel the burn when you switch and begin the other side.
