They started out using the litter box when we got them, now they will only pee in the littlebox but pop in the house on the carpet. i've bought a spray from the pet store but it doesnt seem to affect them. i've even tried moving the furniture where they go and they just find new spots. Is there something i can put on the carpet so they wont want to go there? a friend has sugested that i put vinagar water on the spots to pull out the smell, but that doesnt keep them away from another spot.

Sounds like your kittens need another lesson in Litterbox 101. Start out by putting them in the bathroom with all their "stuff". That way if they "go" outside the box it will be easier to clean up. There is no spray that will keep them from pooping on the carpet. What you need to use is Simple Solution (you can get that at the pet store) and follow the directions for cleaning the carpet. This is an enzymatic cleaner that will actually dissolve the odor so the cats can't smell it. It also has a pleasant "fresh" smell. (I wouldn't want to use something that made my house smell bad. ) You have to be sure to get every spot. Then you need to clean the litterbox and fill it with a litter that isn't uncomfortable on their paws, something like scoopable or something small like that. Clay litter won't do. What this will do is encourage them to use their tiny little paws to dig a hole and bury their deposit. Keep the kittens in the bathroom full time for at least a week or until they are using it reliably. If they poop on the floor, clean it up with the Simple Solution but put the poops in the box. If it smells a little bit then they will know where to go. They'll also be more comfortable if you have a "night light" in there.

I don't know if your kittens had the run of the house all the time, but if they did, that wasn't a good idea. Too much opportunity to get in trouble. I use covered litter boxes and put a piece of carpet in front of the opening so they don't track so much. This will give them a more "private" place to go. Also, depending on how big the house is, you probably need to have as many litter boxes as you do kittens, and you should also have at least one on each level. After their week of "lessons" it might be a good idea to put them away when you're asleep and when you're not home. As they get older you may be able to leave them out for longer periods of time. Patience is the key. After the cats have graduated from "litterbox 101" it might be a good idea to give the carpet a general shampoo so it doesn't get to looking "spotty".

you're saying she is a clean kitten, yet you do no longer point out her age. maximum kittens are not completely muddle experienced till they are approximately 4 months previous, so on occasion she would be able to have an accident or 2. She needless to say became muddle experienced, however the reinforcement wasn't there to boot because it ought to have been, so which you will ought to do it. you will ought to place her on the muddle field at those situations: - thirty minutes after she has eaten - after she has wakened from a nap, in specific an prolonged one - after an quite long play consultation - once you arise interior the morning - earlier you bypass to mattress at nighttime. (some people might advise putting her on the field as quickly as an hour, in spite of what she is doing, except she is napping) verify all the factors the place she has had an accident are wiped clean with a puppy smell/enzyme cleanser consisting of Nature's Miracle. Cats use their experience of smell to help them discover the muddle field - they smell their urine and/or poop someplace else, and that they're going to think of this is the place they are meant to bypass, and that they're going to. maximum relatives cleaners are not getting the smell out sufficient - cats have a extra suitable experience of smell than people do.

What I found that worked was putting out mothballs. I found the area where my cat liked to take a dumb and put out the moth balls and every time she went to the area she got a nose full of mothballs which sent her flying to the kitty litter. It took a while, but she is now 17 years old and no problems. She is now a well trained wonderful cat. I hope this will help.

You say "kittens"...do you have a large enough=== or enough litter boxes for all that you have? I had that problem with kittens that my queen had, and figured out there just wasn't enough litter boxes about..and you must keep them clean at all times, which i'm sure you are aware of....so try all that...Good Luck.....
