i dis-like choke chains.( except for training purposes only then i approve) I work for an animal rescue program...and i have seen many many cases where the owner puts a choke chain on their dogs neck, and the dog ended up with an embeded chain or even worse....a broken neck and the dog is dead. I was working on a case and I went to the location where I would find a pregnant pitbull badly beaten and emaceated with a choke chain around her neck and tied to a tree with NO room to run, walk etc.. she only had room to sit and lay down, I got a good look at Pregnant Mama...and the chain was deeply embeded into her neck and nevertheless....her neck eventually broke from her tryin to get up and run...poor thing snapped her own neck. :( and the owners did not care one bit. lets just say I fixed thier "tails", they are having lots of time to sit and think about what they did in jail. :)

While I dislike choke chains,my own dog wears one with no problems. He is free to run in a very large backyard that has plenty of water (3 huge containers), lots of shade and lots of grass.
I have seen people put regular collars (buckle type) on their animals and don't bother to check to make sure that you can put two fingers in between the collar and the dogs (mainly) neck. This way there is room for the animal to grow. My own neighbor is very bad about checking his own dogs collar. If I had not check the collar, it would have become ingrown. Really p_____ me off at these people. Why do they bother to have an animal if they don't interact and love it.

Good on you!!!

I use a choker chain on my dog under certain circumstances.

He is a long haired German Shepherd and has thick hair around his neck. I only ever use it for walks and never, ever leave him wearing it while unattended or tied up.

I think that pet owners should sit a test and get a license for certain types of animals, whether it be stock or domestic pets.

Answering this question approach stereotyping. One of the crucial point could also be proper for some for some time. No longer necessarily all facets shall be true for all females all time. Thus, it's a good query but appreciate girl as she is is the answer.

I just do not understand cruel people. How could they do this? How could they sit in their house, and not once think about the dog chained up outside? I hope these black hearted people learn their lesson. Way to go!

congratulations, too many people go unpunished for animal abuse. i watch the animal planet heroes show and always end up in tears by the end. i only use a harness with my dog, she is a chihuahua and i don't want to put any strain on her delicate trachea.
