I lost bass from my sub then I noticed my 6x9's didn't seem to have enough bass either. This system used to thump. I switch identical amps and same results. 6x9's sound muffled in the low range and they don't sound as loud. you can see woofer vibrate and its hard as a rock to push by hand. but it has lost that deep bass. sounds more like I hear highs and voices more coming from it. wasn't doing that before. woofer is sealed tight with some sort of black sealant. can't take it apart unless I plan to replace. How do I test these speakers and sub to determine if they are blown!

People who always talk about small penis' usually have one themselves.

He must listen to classical crap. Loud and clear is the best way to truly hear music. To bad that cheap-o above doesent have the money for one.

There could be any number of things wrong with you bass. It could be very simple to fix or very difficult.

Make sure to check oll the settings on the side of your amp, the new ones might have multiple buttons that will change the tone.

Are both speakers still connected properly? If one doesent work right then it can cut your total bass output way down.

also check the settings on you cd deck! Mine has its own subwoofer pre-out and filters built in, if the cables are hooked up to the wrong pre-out then it can make the subs play highs-mids and the 6X9's play nothing but deep bass.

If the woofer is hard to push in and you have no movement from it, no bass, then it's seized up...it's worthless.
Time to get some more.
Use grills next time to prevent all the sunlight/etc to get to them. This will expand the life of your (next) set.
Good Luck!
P.S. Look to Lightning Audio for inexpensive replacements. For $35 a pair from Wal-Mart, you can't go wrong!
Lightning Audio is manufactured by RockfordFosgate (yes, really) and are up to the task. I knew someone w/ the 6x9's getting 100wrms each and they sounded beautiful.
Did I mention their $35 a pair from Wal-Mart? Check into them.
Have Fun!

looks like th3brad hasn't gotten any lately. Oh well. he's an idiot.

If both subwoofers as well as your 6x9's lost bass - you probably switched a setting on your head unit. Make sure low pass filters are off.

You can determine if a sub is blown by gently pressing on the cone... if you hear a scratching sound, it very well could be.

EDIT
Thanks sparky. Yes - make sure the HIGH pass filter going towards the subs is off.

In an attempt to correct the above, the LPF should be ON. This is the Low Pass Filter and only allows low frequencies to get to the subs, which is what you want.
