Buildings cost money, lights cost money, property taxes cost money, insurance policies cost money, employees cost money, charities cost money, discresionary funds for rental assistance, heating bills, etc cost money.
A Church like anyone else cannot live without paying it's bills nor can it help people without guess what, money.

Churches needs money for the Pastor salary as this is his only job some of them, to pay the utilities and mortagage on the building and raise money for charity and needed obligations. Money is not the root of evil it is the people that handles the money when they love it so much and do not the right thing with it as needed. Some churches also pay the workers of the church a salary. Churches needs money also so thy can continue to spread the gospel. Also this could mean when people do evil things to obtain money and you know the sources in which they do.

Why do you want money? To provide a roof over your head, pay the electricity, and other necessary items. The church wants money cause God said you are suppose to tithe to it...10% as a matter of fact. Money in a church is like planting seeds in fertile ground. The more you put in the greater harvest you will reap. Although if you are dealing with a priest that is money hungry you may need to pray for his flaw and/or find another church. Money is needed to expand and to stay afloat and pastors have to be paid too. Money is only the root of all evil when you are obsessed by it as to many people seem to be.

Churches need money to pay their bills.
Heating.
Telephone.
Internet.
Advertising.
Employee Salaries.
Building maintenance.
And more.....???
I'm not sure if money is the root of all evil.
Perhaps, it is how money is used that can be perceived as evil.

I don't think it is money that is the root of all evil. We need money to survive buy food , clothe ourselves, pay rent etc... It is the "Love" of money that is the root of all evil... As in, greed, and wanting it so bad, you do anything to get it. I hope that makes sense to you.
As far as why you give donations. I study with Jehovah's Witnesses and I have never been asked to donate money . There are donation boxes discreetly placed in the Kingdom Hall, and are not put out to make you feel obligated to donate.
Any money that is collected helps pay for lights, maintenance, Bibles being published etc... The Elders do not get paid to give talks, they hold regular full time jobs and anything they do with the Kingdom Hall is volunteered time....

It's the only thing that pays the bills. Maybe it's the root of evil but I think the root may be what a person does to gain it, how, where, why it's used. It need not be the main thrust or coveted.

Churches need to pay the lights, gas, water, and sometimes on the building. Churches have bills too. Money is not the root of all evil. The LOVE of money is.

Churchs don't want money. God wants obedience from Christians. Money is not evil. Love of money is.
Despite the rumors of society, preachers don't make much money. In the US, the average salery is about 40K per year with at least 10 years experience.
Ya...I'd buy a second Lexus too. Whatever.
