I need to decorate my studio apartment. I am in the market for a futon or lounge chair and I have limited space, a limited budget and to top it off I have a bad back, so I need something comfortable :) I am young so I want something hip and modern. I was looking at some Target styles...Mali Flex Futon Combo - Black and Penelope Pillow Chair - Black
Has anyone out there purchased these items or have something they reccomend? Thank you!!

As with any piece of upholstered furniture, check the construction and the "fill" of the cushions (or, in the case of a futon, the mattress). Ask if you can upgrade to a better quality, denser mattress (if that is an option). If you will also sleep on your futon, you don't want to end up with a "valley" in the center of the cushion after it is unfolded. Even on a limited budget, it is smarter to hold out for better quality that will last than to settle for poor quality that will wear out sooner than you might wish.

With your back, I'd suggest getting a really cheap futon frame, and then spend the majority of the money on a more expensive futon. I'd go with one that was at least 5-6 inches thick.

Definitely check IKEA! (www.ikea.com) IKEA is modern, durable and very inexpensive furniture. However, IKEA is impractical if you don't have a location near you, because shipping is almost impossible.

Good luck!!
