If you apply suncreen hours(1 1/2 to 2 hours) before going into the sun, will it lessen the effects of the sunscreen?

Read the bottle. Some provide longer protection than others, some are waterproof...the waterproof-lotion based sunscreens tend to provide longer protection.

If you perspire very much, it might cause some of the sunscreen to come off. However, many good sunscreens are "waterproof" and "sweatproof"--look for these kinds. Some sunscreen is better than none in the tropics.

it will only lessen if you have been sweating or got wet. a sunscreen should last for at least four hours.
