If you want to make a good margarita, skip the mixes. It's a simple drink, so it's really worth it to make it yourself.

It has three ingredients: Tequila (NOT RUM!), orange liqueur (regular tripple sec is fine, but Cointreau or Grand Marnier would be better), and lime juice, preferably fresh squeezed. You want a ratio of three parts tequila, two parts tripple sec, and one part lime juice.

You can serve it either blended or on the rocks, with or without a salt rim.

The link below has the recipe and some history.

Finest Call is a good brand that makes Margarita Mix and Daquri mix as well. Jose Cuervo has different mixes as well. Usually, for a Margarita, it's 4oz of Mix, 1oz of Rum, and 1 1/2 cups of ice. Blend until ice is crushed. Serve chilled or over ice and spruce with Salt or your favorite fruit.

3 oz Tequila (aged preferred)
1 1/2 oz triple sec/Cointreau
1 oz fresh squeezed lime juice

Shake over cracked ice - serve straight up with a lime wedge

NOTHING ELSE!!!!!

NO MIX! NO BLENDER! NO "SLUSHY"! NO RUM! NO STRAWBERRIES OR OTHER PUREED FRUIT (GROSS!)!

Sorry for the flame segment above, but most people have never had a "real" Margarita - once you do you will never drink one any other way.

you can buy the ready to drink from the liquir store.
pour in a blender, add a few ice cubes & blend.
take a glass & run the rim under running water & dip in a saucer plate filled with salt to make a nice salted rim. pour in the margarita mix, garnish with a slice of lime
& drink up
