I'm about to purchase a '99 Toyota Celica GT Convertable with only 81,000 miles with proper care being taken by previous owner. Even had a 90,000 mile maintance done it at 80,000 miles. I'm just curious as to what problems may be in store for me for this car in the general sense. Like any problems that are normal to happen for this make model and year of car for most owners. Thanks

Sounds like you are getting a really great car, congratulations. I've always been a big fan of the Celica.

You didn't mention transmission, but the automatics may shift a little rough due to wear and tear in the valve body...

Other than that... um... convertibles tend to have issues with the tops, but I've never heard of anything specifically about Celicas... just be aware that someday you will probably end up having to replace it (unless you keep the thing in pristine condition and it never gets wet, or snowed on, etc).

My Mum had a much older one and the thing is amazing... ran like a dream and it had something like 210,000 on it. Toyotas are great cars, I'm sure you won't have any problems with it. Just keep up with the maintenance! Good luck!
