Now for this question specifically, I am going to concentrate on the 15 Brits, allies of the US, and in my words, brother in arms, were kidnapped by Iran. Think about it! Were not stupid enough to go into Iranian waters for no good reason. Second what the hell would a boat coming out of Iran be in Iraqi waters for? Lastly why would a boat coming out of Iranian waters and then invading Iraqi water; be followed by Iranian gun boats? You think something might have been on the boat that they didn't want anyone to find out about? You think it is a coincidence that they were in the same area at the same time the Brit's were. I think we should capture 30 of their boy's and then do a prisoner exchange. Now I am sure a DemoCRAP is going to disagree, and that's fine, I guess; but it is something to expect from them with their policy of appeasement. I would like to hear from you people no matter what you may think.

In accordance with international law a sovereign nation can declare war on another sovereign nation anytime they want and for any reason. They don't even have to tell anyone before they start attacking. So an act of war is purely subjective. The U.N. is merely a meeting place to try to avert war, but it does not have any authority over a sovereign nation-state.

As for the question concerning if the Brits were in Iran's territorial waters, that is clearly defined in international law. Is it possible the Brits inadvertently crossed into Iran's territorial waters? YES, Is it likely they would lie about it? I don't see why, we didn't lie about flying our spy plane near China when their incompetent pilot ran into it.

Was it appropriate as Bryan B said for Iran to seize two inflatable boats full of sailors armed with small arms several miles from their coast even if they were technically in their territorial waters? NO! Hardly sounds like an invasion force. Do you think our Coast Guard would seize Russian sailors doing a well-publicized ongoing operation that spilled over into Alaska's territorial waters? NO. We'd inform them of their mistake and tell them to leave. It's a completely inappropriate overreaction.

Coincidence? Probably this was timed so as to interupt Britains operation just long enough to smuggle something in or out of Iraq. The British operation is no doubt back on so this is now just for fun, because idiots like BarB and BryanB would believe a propaganda statement from our enemies before their own country.

Perhaps kidnapping some of Iranian people is the appropriate answer.

This is what scares me about this situation.

Do you remember when Hezbollah (arm of the Iranian govt) kidnapped the two Israeli soldiers last year? Well Israel did open a can of "whoop a$$" to get their guys back. Although Hezbollah fired over 130 missiles into Israel during this conflict, Israel was condemned in the media everywhere for reacting to strongly....

I see a repeat of this happening, and the UN and the rest of the world lined up against the west, and sympathetic to Iran.

Prisoner exchange wont work ~ they don't care at all! The good thing is that this really helps us because now the British can go after Iran and we don't have to worry so much about it, just back them up. Now many of those anti-war Parliament members are up in arms as well as some of their people. Now they can deal with Iran for now and we can finish Iraq. Great Allies ~ Go Brits!

Are you saying a nation can't put detainees on trial
(ie GITMO)
I guess everyone has forgotten that based on US intelligence Sadaam Hussien attacked Iran using US weapons including WMDs. They fought for ten years and wound up where they started.

I guess that everyone has forgotten the US sponsored coupe that overgthrew the elected Iranian Government and put the Shah in. That meant 30 years of secret police, torture, and detention.

Ya know, they always call us "the Great Satan" and all that jazz. Call me crazy, but if we were truly Satan, why would bend over backwards waiting and waiting for the UN to allow us to intervene militarily? Personally, just once, I would like to see us show them what a "Great Satan" leader would do.

Were we really so evil, we wouldn't waste any time on diplomacy and position our boys and girls in harm's way, we would just nuke them. It is a good thing I am not President I guess, since I would have told them they had 30 days to shut down their reactors, cease all offensive operations aiding our enemies in Iraq, and respect international borders and laws. After the 30 days, I would start selling tickets to go visit the new glass theme park, we could call it Emerald City and Disney could charge 4.50 for a bottle of water and sell merchandise for 90% markup, it would be wonderful.

In the old days, TR, FDR, even JFK would have already started planning for operations against Iran. And Bush is hardly 1. a wimp 2. mindful of what others think about him, he leads, he doesn't appease!

[Hey Bar B:]

Iraq violated 13 international laws that the UN didn't have the guts to enforce, all Bush (the madman he is to you) did was enforce a paper tiger's laws. You are probably the first person to demand we send troops to Darfur too, right?

From my point of view, Iran is deliberately thumbing their
nose at us and our allies giving the impression that they
are prepared and not afraid of a war. Now it seems GB is
waiting for Big brother"s commands. It is obvious that GB
cannot go alone depending on its allies like the French who
would pull out of the fray under some excuses or other after
all Iran is one of France's biggest customers and sitting on
both sides of the fence seems wisest. Cest la vie.
Bush is probably saying to Tony right now that he's got his
pants down over the Irag issue and to wait till he pulls it up.
Capito ? So much so for our allies.

Ahmadinutjob, the premier of iran, wants a war with the west because his policies are wearing thin in his own country and he is becoming unpopular (25% unemployment). A war with the 'infidels' will distract the masses and aid him in his goal of getting the wmd he wants to annihilate Israel and start Armageddon. Hence his provocative kidnapping of the Brits, just like hezbollah's raid into Israel last year to kill and kidnap Israeli soldiers there.
