You get a Visa or MasterCard debit and/or credit card from the bank you choose. Most banks offer a card that can be used as a debit or credit card or both, but the cash still comes out of your account.

I am from the North, so I am not familair with Southern banks. I use a credit union. They are smaller than banks, offer the same perks, lower fees and really get to know you. Perhaps you should check with local banks and credit unions and then select the one that has been the most helpful and has the best rates.

There are lots of good banks out there. Most offer the debit card, most only require a $100 deposit. Some form of identification will be needed (picture ID). And if you are wanting the Visa type, you might check with the bank, some only offer Mastercard Debit cards. Ask around with those you work with on which bank they use. Good luck.
