I strongly suspect acute sinusitis or sinus infection. This is sinus congestion with infection as resultant of this recent flu bout. In that case, you might need a round of antibiotics and /or antihistamincs to dry up the congestion. If this bad mouth or nose smell persists, you might consider nasal polyps or abscess.

My father had a case of bad breath. After a series of x-rays, maxillary abscess was diagnosed as the culprit. This was caused by a bodged-up nasal polyp surgery via the maxillary (cheek) approach. I had this same sinus surgery. However, mine was via a nasal approach. My father's problem was finally corrected with antibiotics and subsequent local surgeries to aspirate the pockets of pus.

But that's a grim picture. In your case , most likely, the cause is just a simple case of acute sinusitis.; because of the yellowish purulent secretions. You can confirm my suspicions thru "search engining" on sinus infection. I also replied to similar questions. Good Luck.!!!

Well that's what happens when you are sick, if this is not an infection then the only remedy is to blow your nose, and keep it clean with warmed water and soap, and wait for the flu to go away.

This could be the remnants of a secondary infection. probably of the sinuses. make sure you see the doctor if it doesn't get better pretty fast. they can get you on the right anibiotics if this is the case.

a sinus infection is likely the source of your smell.
