I'm wondering if cherry cobbler (made with white cake mix, margarine, and canned cherry pie filling) must be refrigerated immediately after cooling, or if it will stay fresh for several days at room temperature. Any food experts?

I appreciate all your answers so far. However, I don't think I communicated my question very adequately: we're wondering if the cobbler is safe to eat when it's been left out, as we've already eaten it throughout the day and are just now thinking about it. So, is it okay to leave a cherry cobbler at room temperature for several days without fear of food poisoning?

Bacteria love sugar, which is often used in laboratories as a culture medium. I would refrigerate it and heat it up in the microwave if I wanted it warm tomorrow.

Yes, refrigerate the cobbler uncovered so it does not get soggy. This time of year baked goods get moldy quickly because the heat in the house promotes the growth of mold.

I cook for a living and yes it will be safe. Just cover it to keep it from drying out. Although if it's anything like our house it won't last several days.

You do not have to refrigerate it unless it is really warm/moist in your kitchen. Just make sure it's well covered.

PS - Sounds DELISH!!
