The lotion will hold the burn in. When the burn starts to fade, then you use the lotion to keep it moist. You need to get some aloe, of the other burn stuff they have. look in the store near the sunblock they have all sorts of things to stop the burn.

If it's a bad sunburn, it won't be gone by morning no matter what you do. But if you are just a little bit pink, you have a slight chance, but it's still not likely to be gone by morning. Aloe is the best thing to use on a sunburn but if you don't have anything at all, I guess lotion is good too. Your skin is so dried out from being sunburned, it needs moisture. If it's scented, it's more likely to irritate your skin and maybe make it feel worse. Try to find some unscented, healing lotion, maybe something specifically for dry skin. If you can't find any aloe vera or unscented lotion, then use the kind you already have. It can't hurt.

A sunburn will *not* be gone by tomorrow. Do not use lotion, as they usually have oils which are harmful to the newly burned skin. Remember: This is actually a burn... Something not to be taken lightly. For the best and quickest recovery, drink LOTS of water. Second, go get an aloe based gel, with lidocaine in it for pain. Do it NOW. If there is very little, to some tolerable pain, then just an aloe based gel will work. Your skin will soak this up quickly in the first few applications. Drink, apply gel, repeat. Once the redness and tenderness has subsided (probably a few days) then maybe a lotion to help with peeling, but remember: you have killed the outer layer of skin, and it will most likely come off in a week or so. Good Luck

Try chilling the lotion in the freezer for 20 mins before applying it. Cold ANYTHING will help soothe sunburn, and drying will cause painful itching when it starts to peel. No matter what you do, it will take a few days for it to heal. However, slathering chilled moisturizers of ANY kind will make it much less uncomfortable, and much less pink. Take Advil for a day or so (if you are able to) every 4-6 hrs, and benadryl over night, to help reduce inflammation, and drink tons of fluids to help you feel less tired (I get sleepy when I get sunburn). Keep your bedroom cool over night, and sleep as near to naked as you can to reduce friction on the injured skin.

Well, the sunburn will not be "gone" by tomorrow, but lotion will at least help it not be peeling then, but DO NOT use scented, that will just hurt. Dabbing some white vinegar on it and then a thin layer of vaseline or Noxema will help.

Crayon eaters everywhere.
There's certain ingredients in some lotions that actually hurt your skin with a burn.
Petroleum
Benzocaine
Lidocaine.....

To get rid of the redness and the sting of the sunburn, vinager works great...use it now...dab a little on a cotton ball and smear on the burn...stay away from the lotions for now they will probably only irriate the burn...You are going to smell funny for a little while, but it will take the red out...ALso drink plenty of water, you need keep hydrated so that your skin cells will reproduce faster.
