I just got a tattoo, when its done healing, will the color get lighter or darker?

Fresh Tattoo

Take bandage off in 2 hours
Wash tattoo carefully with warm soapy water
DO NOT SCRUB
Lightly pat the tattoo until dry…
DO NOT RUB
Apply a very thin coat of bacitracin or aquaphor ointment 3 times a day for 3 to 5 days
Although re-bandaging a tattoo is not recommended, if covering the tattoo is necessary a sterile bandage or dressing should be used.
Be sure and wash the tattoo every night and morning…
DO NOT SOAK
Avoid tattoo exposure to direct sunlight and refrain from swimming in fresh, salt or chlorinated water for at least 2 weeks.
After External Healing

Tattoos heal quickly BUT fading can still be a problem
Apply hand lotion once a day until dryness stops
Vaseline Intensive Care, Lubriderm, Nivea, etc...
Tanning fades tattoos
Always cover fully healed tattoo with sun block
DO NOT RUIN YOUR INVESTMENT!!!

you have to take in to account that your own skin tone always changes the shades of colors,that's why people with very pale skin look as though they keep their colors better.
tattoos always look darker in the first few weeks, while healing then go a shade lighter. do wear protection when in the sun, even on a straight black tattoo, its not only the colors that fade. once its fully cured if you rub in a little body lotion it tends to show up the colors more, recon on about two weeks for full recovery.

The colors may come out a little bit lighter than what they were when first applied. You may want to go back to your inker and have him/her re-ink some areas that are to light, or need just a little touch up. Don't get mad at them though and think that they did a crap job, its just how the healing process goes. Ask them also, for the product called H2Ocean. It works better than a&d ointment for rubbing it on a newly inked tat. And the tat will heal faster as well.

Your tattoo will eventually get lighter. You can put some rubbing alcohol on it to make it a little darker when that happens.

Its going to get a little light depending on your skin color you will be able to tell if maybe you might need it to get darkened...Plus the rays from the sun darken your skin tone which makes the tat look as if its getting lighter, though over time just like denim the color eventually fades so if your one of those people who needs it to be dark be prepred for a lot of re-ups.....

About 3 weeks after mine was fully healed it was faded a bit.
If going out in the sun I recommend using sunscreen to prevent any more fading.

it all depends on your skin tone. All of my tattoos have stayed the same color as the day i got it. But im also very fair skined so all my tattooes became very bright.

if you got it in black an grey the red will fad after a few dayz and the rezt will lighten up a lil, but it dependz on your zkin tone. if your really whit then your tatt if done right will ztay black an dark. if your darker zkind then it will be not az black. im mexican and have a light but not white cumplekchin, zo when i get tatted for the firzt week or two my tatt iz really black but after it healz and zetelz in my zkin iz lookz a lil mor greenish, but ztill lookz the bezt.

now if your getting cololer in your tatt be expecting to have the coloerz fad. it dependz on your zkin tone agin but coloer like red after zum yearz will turn a lil pinkish, other coloerz like yellow after zum yearz will looze itz brightnezz.

i perzonaly wouldnt get coloer tattz cuz i dont have the zkin for it. but if you do and like coloerthen get it. no matter wat you do the tatt iz ganna lighten up. but if you keep up with your zkin care like lottion and not geting too much zun expozure you zhould b ok. oh and if your in a pool or in the ocean a lot thiz can alzo affect your tat.

At first it will be dark, then it will eventually get lighter and you have to keep sunscreen on it if you go outside in the sun!!!
