Well, it depends on the situation and location:

1. When i see a penny in a jeepney, bus or any public utility vehicle, I will pick it up and give it to the vehicle in charge like the driver or conductor or guard, because I consider it as their money.

2. When i see a penny inside the house of someone, I will call one of the family members and let them pick the penny.

3. When i see a penny on the road, i will not pick it up so that those who really need it such as beggars, kids etc.

4. when i see a penny inside my home, i will pick it up and drop it into my coin bank.

Never. Last time I picked up a penny I thought to myself "Oh...good luck!" 5 minutes later I was in handcuffs. I've never picked up another penny since.

nope, i personally dont because for one a penny is not much at all, you need 100 to make a dollar lol
but i think people do it for luck, find a penny means you found something today things are going well. im not really sure but i think that might have something to do with it, there is a saying too about finding pennies and good luck.

No, it takes more effort to pick up a penny than one can make in the same amount of time.

Only if it is face up
my grandmother was a gypsy and quite wise and full of the "old ways"
she had a "thing" about the "lost penny" and that's where I learned the "method" to my madness !!

Deal is--- if it is face up--- it means good fortune
If it is tails up--- you turn it over without picking it up--- this allows the very next person to capitalize on the good fortune thing--- I was never told the reasonings behind this-- but with Gramms --there was plenty of reasons not to quiz the why's !!

Usually, yes.

why?
A penny saved is 20 cents earned :)
-- assuming a savings rate of 5%

And a penny invested is 10 cents for retirement (invested in a an index mutual fund over 30 years).

Cordially,

I do. Number one because it's money. But also because:

see a penny, pick it up, all the day you'll have good luck.
