Fill the thermos with one part white vinegar in two parts water. Pour the mixture into a pan to and heat boiling, then fill the thermos to the top. Allow to sit for two hours. Drain and rinse the thermos. Fill the thermos with water and pour the water into a pan. Heat the pan to boiling and dissolve about 3 oz of baking soda into the water. I would shy away from using bleach... however baking soda OR plain vinegar should work well in regard to removing some of the odor/off flavor. Lemon juice would also work, but might not leave a pleasant taste with the coffee.
*Tip for people who like to bring soup in a thermos.... spray the inside with Pam or nonstick cooking spray before putting tomato based products inside as it will prevent the interior from staining.
** Soaking a thermos in Febreeze for 3 days??? Can you say Darwin Awards anyone?? LOL!!!!!!!!

First of all...DO NOT use bleach or Febreeze. Or you will permanantly have a REALLY bad taste in your mouth...and possibly poison yourself in the process. Instead, try filling the thermos with hot water and 1/2 box of baking sodawell mixed . Let it soak overnight. If that doesn't take care of it, empty the other 1/2 box of soda into the thermos dry and let it sit for a day or two. Baking soda absorbs bad odors and tastes...just like it does in your refrigerator and garbage disposal. Good luck. Hope this helps.

Fill it up with hot water and white vinegar and let is sit for a day then rinse and wash up like usual. Hopefully the smell will be gone and the vinegar shouldn't leave a taste behind. If this doesn't work, might be a good idea to throw it away and buy a new one!

place a bowl of water contained in the microwave with some lemon slices ~ or squirts of lemon juice and nuke at extreme for roughly 2 minutes and 30 seconds. depart the water in there with the steam for roughly 5 minutes and then do away with bowl and wipe out. If there remains a fragile scent, you may ought to repeat the technique ~ it relies upon on how grimy the microwave became.

I'd pour straight vinegar in and let it sit a couple days. Then disassemble where possible (yes, thermoses unscrew) and wash in the dishwasher.
