You must be buying them from a store that still waxes them to keep them fresh longer. Most stores don't do that to veggies anymore. they spray on a preservative instead. Wash the cucumbers very well then I'm sure you won't have the greasy problem! I myself never came across a greasy cucumber just some waxy ones. A little baking soda washed away the wax.

I believe they spray some kind of preservative on cucumbers to make them stay fresh longer. It is a good idea to always peel cucumbers, cut the cucumber in half and start peeling from the large part to the very small end, if a cucumber is bitter you can taste it on the small end of the cucumber after you peel it and cut that part off. Never peel the cucumber from the end or you will spread the bitter taste.

It is a non-nutritive food grade wax that is applied to the cukes prior to shipping. I really laughed at a lot of the other answers.... enough said.
