conair's ceramic straighters. they cost between 15 - 50 dollars. depending on the inch width of the ban. spritz your hair with water and straighten slowing with slight to moderate pressure use a fien tooth comb to keep them straight. do like 1 inch of hair at a time then hopefully, before your hand starts to hurt, you will have straight hair, spritz with hair spray after your put in some kind of gel or hair serum to keep the fizz down.
ps. one of my really good friends has long red tight curly hair, she uses a regular iron you know the stream iron for clothes, it seems to work well for her, she gets straight hair and her hair is thick too, way to much of it. =]
pss. if you want to spend a good penny, you can go to a salon and get your hair relaxed. that would make it chemically straight but i wouldnt know how long that last. good luck!

A SOLIA is a good one I have thick long frizzy hair and works great. It doesn't snag on your hair and cuts straightening time in half. It is ceramic/tourmaline Ion Technology which creates soft, smooth, silky straight hair and eliminates frizz because of the far in-fared and negative ions it generates. You can get it at www. folica.com and it's about $88 and worth it.

Pretty much as long as its porcelain/ceramic and has a wide variety of heat settings your good. If you have reall thick, frizzy, coarse hair, put it on the highest, even if thats not what the instructions say... just dont burn your eyes out.

O.K. this is one i do know!!! As long as it has ceramic plates on both sides of it, it`s not going to damage ya hair. My hairs the same as yours and i`ve never had a prob, and its what hairdressers recommend ...trust me i know, lol. and price dosent matter just the ceramic plates the ones for 20 bucks are as good as the ones you pay $100 for
