Oranges are higher in fiber, and therefor use more energy to metabolize.
So, if you are counting calories, if you start with an apple and orange with the same calories, the orange actually has less NET calories in the end due to the extra digestion needed.
There are certain foods that actually have NEGATIVE calories...celery is one of them. It takes MORE energy to digest them than the celery holds. For example a celery stick contains 15 calories, it may take 25 calories to just break down...so you end up with(-10) Net calories. Pretty cool!

Apple. Very high in fiber.
Strawberries, broccoli and red bell peppers all have more vitamin C than oranges.

They are both good, but I prefer apples for cooking and oranges for eating fresh.

What would the world be like today if Eve had given Adam an orange, I ask myself. Maybe we'd have Adam's Oranges in our throats
