If I am going the speed limit and not doing anything wrong, can an officer pull me over if he runs my plates? Second question: can an officer run my plates for the hell of it or does he need a legal reason?

drive home from college, which is 3 hours away. I am always scared out of my mind when I see a cop and think I'm going to do something stupid. I've gotten pulled over for practically nothing, when I've heard my friends getting off for worse things. At the moment, I do not have my license. It is suspended.

YES AN OFFICER CAN RUN YOUR PLATES JUST ON GENERAL PRINCIPLES BUT THEY USUALLY WILL NOT WITHOUT SOME REASON. BE AWARE THAT ALMOST EVERYONE COMMITS MINOR INFRACTIONS ON A REGULAR BASIS DURING THE COURSE OF EVERYDAY DRIVING. MORE IMPORTANT IS A QUESTION I HAVE FOR YOU. WHY ARE YOU VIOLATING THE LAW BY DRIVING WHILE YOUR LICENSE IS UNDER SUSPENSION? IT SEEMS LIKE YOUR PARONIA IS WELL FOUNDED. ALSO ONE MIGHT WONDER WHY IT WAS SUSPENDED IN THE FIRST PLACE. SO YOU SEE, IN AS MUCH AS YOU ARE NOT SQUEAKY CLEAN, THERE IS APPARENTLY A GOOD REASON FOR AN OFFICER TO RUN YOUR PLATES, OR ANYONE ELSES. THAT WAY THE PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE DRIVING CAN BE KEPT OFF THE ROAD. ALSO YOU HAVE NO INSURANCE EVEN IF YOU THINK YOU DO, IT WOULD NOT COVER AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THEY WOULD DISALLOW THE CLAIM BASED ON YOUR SUSPENSION.

You are in college. Your license is suspended, but you're still driving?

I'm tempted to ask why you're bothering to go to college. I mean, if you're going to college, what use is there in obtaining a degree you might not even need to use? Most jobs now-a-days require a background check, at least most career oriented positions do...so you may find a job using your degree, but it will most likely be a low paying position with a not-so-reputable company who doesn't run background checks. So why waste the time in college, when you can get a comparable paying job without going?

You're in college...time to be a responsible adult and stop driving until you serve your punishment for doing whatever you did to get it suspended in the first place. Then move on, as a law abiding citizen and make something of yourself.

right here in Texas a cop can pull everyone over for "in all risk reason" and maximum every time they run a verify of the plates. i hit upon that often whilst an officer pulls you over, the enjoying cards are truly stacked against you because of the fact in maximum circumstances, they have already performed their homework. i grew to become into presently pulled over for dashing, tried each and every thing to get out of it, however the clever *** wrote me up besides. $a hundred thirty.00. luckily, i grew to become into able to do the protective driving direction on line and function the cost ticket brushed off. nevertheless had to pay the $a hundred thirty. :-) there is not any criminal reason required to tug you over or to run your plates. All thats required is suspicion (in all risk reason) via the officer.

Firstly, yes a cop can pull you over on pure suspicion, no reason needed.

Secondly, why should you have anything to be nervous about if you haven't done anything wrong, he's just doing his job?

And thirdly, what the h*ll are you doing on the road with no licence? Dare I ask why your licence was suspended.....?
