Do NOT TRUST those who gave the thumbs down to the ones who responded with a full or partial affirmative answer. Many urinalysis tests DO IN FACT detect BZD - benzodiazepine - everything from Librium to Halcion. Xanax leaves the body totally in about two to three days.

Xanax is a benzodiazepine and an infrequent user should clear their system of the drug in less than a day to 3 days. For more information, see:

Xanax is a legal drug when prescribed by a physician.

If you have a valid prescription written by a physician for a bona fide medical condition, it doesn't matter if it gets detected or not. Your employer cannot discriminate against you based upon medications required to treat your medical problems.

If your employer fired you under this circumstance, you could sue them and take them to the cleaners ... figure on a $60K settlement for starters.

On the other hand, if you DON'T have a legal prescription ... better wait a week to be sure.

Drug test's usually consist of checking for these chemicals:

1. Cannabinoids
2. Cocaine
3. Amphetamines
4. Opiates
5. Phencyclidine

Your drug is a benzodiazepine, so as far as I can tell, no.

As long as it is prescribed by a doctor, it won't matter. They can have a doctors note in your employee file and all will be well. That is, unless you are keeping it from them. Sorry, I am not positive, but I doubt it.

Drug tests are used to detect illegal drugs. While some take xanax recreationally, I doubt it will be used against you.
