I am 23 and a stutter. I got the speecheasy device a year and a half ago. I havent been impressed by it and was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience. I was dissapointed by Jonus' follow up research and wanted to hear what other users think.

Read this page on The Stuttering Foundation's web site http://www.stutteringhelp.org/DeskLeftDefault.aspx?tabid=174 as it tells of research that showed that auditory feedback devices (which is what the speecheasy device is) does not help all stutterers.

I come from a family of stutterers, and those of us who stutter got help from the Foundation's book "Self Therapy for the Stutterer" and their referrals to speech therapists who specialize in treating stuttering. Even if an auditory feedback device helps a stutterer, it only helps while it is worn. As soon as you take it out, the stutter returns. Although going through speech therapy, whether with a specialist or on your own, takes determination, hard work, and lots of practice, it is more rewarding in the end because you aren't dependent on anything but yourself.

There is no cure for stuttering, but you can learn techniques to control it, change your environment and lifestyle to help yourself be calm and relaxed and able to be more fluent.
