I get sick of seeing it. I think ppl are 'programmed' to seek entertainment, and this is one of the tools, because it shows up at all grocery stores I've ever been to. I wonder who reads them and why they read them.

On the other hand, why note have a selection of canon, spiritual books in the checkout aisles.

Or on the other hand, take the 700 billion spent on movies/music/TV/computer toys in the US each year and spend it on the needy/healthcare, etc. With 90 million Americans living in poverty, this would improve their lives much more than watching any movies could.

i agree with you. western society has their priorities messed up. I personally contribute to the needy and to the christian church all the time knowing that it's going to a good cause......if one day we get our as*es blown back to the dark ages, they'll be crying to God like a bunch of sissies. Take their cell phones, and their pop culture away from these people, they're lost. Dont worry your time is coming.

Why do churches peddle superstitious crap that promotes bigotry, intolerance, hate, war, and anti-science.
If the churches, as rich and powerful as they are, really wanted the needy to have health care or adequate housing, or to stop 22,000 people each DAY from dying of inadequate nutrition, or wanted peace and brotherhood, don't you think we could get it. We don't have it because religion is evil. It is derived from primitive fear and hate and that fear and hate is exploited by shrewd greedy scum in collars and robes.
Get real, the church is the cult of personality.

They push what sells.....celebrity rags sell like hotcakes. Stores are about making profits, not enriching lives. And many people read them, or they wouldn't sell so many.We don't live in a perfect world, we have to adjust. Go to your nearest Christian bookstore for your reading material.

Because no one would buy the spiritual literature, the stores would become less profitable, and stores that use their prime impulse buying real estate more effectively would take their places.

What you propose is fascism.

First idea is exclusive. Not everyone is spiritual.

Second idea is awesome. However, it's conducive to free enterprise.
