In a text box I tried and could only align center left to right inside the box. highlight alland just use the align center toolbar
To get it centered all the way around the text box I had to adjust the size of the text box to match from the top and bottom
this was just trying to center the text and not the box

I'm trying to understand you here --

If you typed a sentence and want the sentence centered, select the sentence and click the center align button.

If you want every word centered, you will have to press "enter" after each word then select all the words and press center align.

No, but you can draw a rectangle box and place a text box inside at the position you want. Format for no lines to just have text.

right click cell
select format cell
select alignment
select vertical and pick what you need

this can be applied to multiple cells at same time as well. just select more of them before you change format.
