Microsoft is not free. It is part of some MS Office packages, although I bought mine as a stand-alone a few years ago.

What is it you are looking for? You can get many free templates from the MS Assistance website:

since I don't know what microsoft publishing is, ill explain in general.

You can choose from two options, either use a p2p or download a demo/trial version.

A p2p is either using limewire, bitorrent, or any other program that allows you exchange data from two different computers
you can download bitorrent from
http://bitorrent.freakin.nl/
or use utorrent(better than bitorrent)
http://www.utorrent.com/
and you can download torrent file from
http://thepiratebay.org/
http://isohunt.com/
http://torrentbox.com/
http://www.onlytorrents.com/

or you can go to the website of the program and download a limited demo.
