Adolf Hitler was a Christian but he hated Marxism and contended that Christianity had created Marxism. Hence, he had no faith except suffering from megalomania.

I am taking a class this semester on the Holocaust. Here is a snippet of something I recently read in a handout we were given:

"The Nazis saw politics as a religion. Hitler was looked upon as someone greater than Jesus. Acts against the state would be immoral in almost a religious sense. Nazism became a mission: "The Reich must direct the life of nations, individuals and states. The Reich signifies a mission."

I think this passage is pretty self-explanatory. I have also heard that Hitler was secretly involved in Satanism. I have no way of knowing if this is true, of course.

On another note, if there is any truth that Hitler 'embraced' Christianity, then he was seriously misled on what Christianity is really about. Many people are.

Hitler used Christianity to sell his "beliefs" to Germans as well as others worldwide. He used whatever rhetoric that he felt necessary to get people to do what he wanted. He professed whatever ideology he needed to in order to manipulate the public.

He also, I believe, followed (or rather used) a religion created by one of his people that was based on Norse mythology in order to convince certain Nazis that they were destined to rule the rest of the world.

But from what I understand the only thing Hitler really believed in was his right to power, and used whatever he needed to to bring that about. Hilter's only real belief was in himself.

He considered himself to be a Christian however, he wasn't fond of the traditional Christianity practices. He was against the Jews because he thought Jesus was sent by GOD to fight them. He also imprisoned and killed a number of priests not because he was against Christianity but because those priests were all against his policies.

He created his own neo-pagan religion which worshipped the old Norse Gods and the " Nine unknown heros" of Germanic myth. It became the state religion and everyone was expected to practice it. Hitler also practiced homosexuality behind closed doors and was arrested once as a youth for homosexual prostitution.
