All religions have different basis's and ideas. They ALL came from SOMEWHERE. What makes one religion more right than the next. This quote should make those stubborn religious people think about their judgement.
"I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours."
-- Stephen Roberts
Is it possible that all religions were just created by people because they needed something to believe in? Does mankind really need religion to have morals, standards, common sense, etc.? Or do some need religion because they are weak at mind and heart and can't make judgement on their own. What about evolution? It is proven. We just dont know for sure about the beginning of the unvierse. And what about natural selection?
This is not a question for arguement between people of different religions. I want all different opinions from different people. Thanks.

I myself am an atheist and believe in evolution and the big bang because there is so much proof around us. Natural selection makes a lot of sense and i want to know what you guys think about that. I'm pretty sure that if caveman could gradually gain intelligence and attain fire and create the wheel, mankind can certainly evolvve into smarter humans and distinguish between moral and immoral, right and wrong.

In such a world that we have always lived, I believe religion gives us hope for our world. That maybe, one day, things will be better. At the end of our life is something grand waiting for us. Whether this be some sort of paradise, nirvana or just death, we all want one of these three. I guess happiness is the latter of hope.
In such a world as ours, where are terrible and unspeakable things going on every second of every day, it gives us hope that maybe, one day, everything will be all better. Hope. Yeah, that's what I think. Even though I'm agnostic, I like to think that there's something nice waiting for me at the end.
Death doesn't have to be so morbid. We just... CHOOSE to make it that way.
Edit: Captain Atheism. It's funny that you say that you think that religion will be a thing of the past in 100 years. Voltaire said the same thing centuries ago, but it didn't. Just a fun fact. Take any way you like. Just an ironic thing for me.

If there was a worldwide campaign to educate people about their religions, proving them false, etc.... I believe it would create chaos of the worst kind. (At first)
I really do think there are a lot of people in this world today who would rather die than realize the truth that their god doesn't exist. Therefore, this needs to be done gradually, by generations.
The zealots that are alive today will have children that are more open-minded, and their children, and their children, etc.
I personally estimate that within 100 years, religion will be a thing of the past. But we need that time to weed out all the kooks.

Technically Fishing is a religion.....especially if you tie your own flies and make your own rods. There's even a heaven with just the right kind of stream and a devil called a game warden 3 hours before trout season opens and your up to your knees in Oh Hell!

Does mankind need art? What’s it good for? Yes some do, and some need religion. What the world doesn’t need is intellectually dishonest religious fanatics with primitive doctrines who are stumbling blocks to human progress.

Your question was so long I couldn't read it. And anyway I can't read.
But here's something you should know: The human race wants the universe to be human. Is that so bad? So let them have their human god, and imagine that the universe is human. No harm done.

Just like we need cancer.
I suppose individual people delude themselves into thinking they need religion on a personal level. They are just unwilling to grow up and face reality on its own terms.

I think that as long as there are aspects of ourselves and this universe that we don't understand there will be a need for religion.
