Sound of Silence - Simon & Garfunkel
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets
Are written on the subway walls,
And tenement halls,"
And whispered in the sounds of silence....

argued out of having no faith or argued out of faith in God. Someone finding faith in God is by deposits made by different people over a period of time. I don't get the one person thing. This is not the forum for 2 way conversation to convince anyone. We have a man at our church now that was atheist and is now going into full time ministry. He is the one you should talk to. He now has a testimony that other atheists will ignore now. lol

its impossible to argue an atheist out of his or her faith. Atheism is a lack of faith.
Point taken. But I like to think of what we are doing here as planting seeds. There will come a time for some christians here when they will question their faith. Perhaps then they will acutally THINK about some of the arguments they've heard, and change their minds.

I do agree with his statement.
Take for example Jim Jones and the Peoples Temple. Have you seen some of his taped sermons?
Take for example the parents of kids who join a cult and have them "kidnapped" back and brought back into the fold so to speak.
But I must admit, you have a very strong point about the atheist. I was assuming that atheism was a lack of faith.

I argued for religion as long as I could. No one coerced me to lose my faith. I simply got educated.
Not being afraid to question things, and educate oneself, is a sure way to atheism. Being afraid to ask questions that make you uncomfortable... well, that's the cornerstone of religions worldwide.
However, I can think of 3 people that I have convinced to lose their faith, personally.
They had to make the decision, of course, but I just showed them the facts.

I don't think he was exaggerating at all.
...why does it have to be a person? Why can't it be a book or months of research and intellectual development?
I was "argued" out of my faith by a single person, you're right... myself.

atheists do not have any faith, we only have reality, therefore it doesn't apply to us.
