Someone told me you can put the honeycomb in your tea and drink it, but then, aren't you drinking melted wax? Are you just supposed to drain the honey out of the honeycomb and throw it out or are there uses for it?

You can chew it and squeeze the honey out of it and then spit out the wax.
Some of the uses of bee's wax :
1. It makes some of the best candles. They burn well and smell great. You can make your own by dipping string into wax melted in a double boiler.
2. If you like fancy stationery. You can use it for sealing wax.
3.You can roll it in tiny balls and use it to stick posters on the wall instead of making nail holes.
4. If you have lots of it, you can sell it to companies that supply bee keepers with foundation sheets for their hive frames.
5. Do you know anyone that wears braces? You can rub a little bit on the sharp parts so they wont cut your lips.

It's just for show that it's in there. Use the honey up. When nothing but the comb is left, break off a piece and chew it and suck on it. Spit it out when the honey flavor is gone.

It's ok to eat a little wax, but I don't know about melted wax. People do eat the wax of the honeycomb, though.

When we were kids, we used to chew the comb like gum. We never ate it.
