My natural hair color is dark blond, and I really just want a few highlights. I had a disaster about 1.5 years ago when the salon miscolored my hair, and it has never been the same, even though my hair has completely grown out. Now, I can never get a stylist to give me the cool toned blond highlights that I always used to get. The orange streaks really bother me, and the highlights I just got are so white that it all looks like a light orange and I hate it! I feel like I can't go back because I was very clear about what I wanted and she didn't know how to do it then, she won't know how to fix it. I've tried 2 kinds of purple shampoo for blondes and it doesn't work. I don't know what to do - the gold/orange looks really awful with my pale/pinkish skin!! What can I do to tone down the orange?

Ouch, that is sad you have had bad experiences with more than one salon, I wish you wouldn't give up. If you want to get rid of the orange, go to the beauty supply store and get a tone, it does not need peroxide and will not damage your hair. It will do what it says, tone the color. The downside is it does wash out.

Hint, find someone who has highlights or lowlights you like or what you like that you are looking for and ask for the name and number of the person who did their hair

Talk to the manager or owner of the place and tell them how unhappy you are. If it someone with there on shop, just tell them that this is not what you wanted, and that your family says it doesn't look right on you and that you wan to try something else with it. And if you just don't like how shes screwed up your hair just go to somebody else. I've had the same problem before girl. I know exactly what your going through and then I find a girl that lives in the same town of me and she ownes her own salon and the first time she did it I liked it while I was there then I got home and washed it and a few days later I found I had this line going through my head and I went back and she fixed it. Then one time I got ome and I had alot of blonde on 1 side and not much on the other. And i went back and she fixed it. just try really hard to establish a relationship with your style. hope this helps

sounds like your stylist used a color for your highlights, which is ok.....but some brands are formulated to be high lift.....such and Loreal, majablonde hair color....mixes with 40vol. and it should remove the orange.....I have had great success usitn kaledicolors and 20vol. this will lift up to 5 levels under the dryer, now they have to use the blue or violet container.....it tones as it lifts the color out of your hair. Personally I like it, and it is a quick service.

I would suggest finding a new stylist as well. At this point you may need some color correction. I would highly suggest calling around to some of you high end salons to find a color specialist......they will get you fixed up.

well i work in a hair salon and if your color is coming out like that i hate to say it but its time to get a new hair stylist. a good stylist can make your hair any color, the right shade. there is no reason your hair should look orange. your stylist needs to go!!!! to turn down the orange throw a light brown in.

your best bet would be Too get your hair based coloured a medium cool brown.. not much Gold... and get them to put in light blonde highlites that are very light.. this way you have a nice contrast agains't the brown, and u are at the same time not too blonde.. it will workout... and do not let them give u 2 or 3 different tones. because if u get any Gold or Carmael etc.. they go brassy, so keep it simple... Blonde highlites and cool brown base.. and yeah stick with a purple shampoo..

go to the hair stylist that did your hair, tell her you simply dont like it and ask for her to put a color toner on it. you can get the shade of blonde you want as a toner. i always have that done after bleaching just to make sure i don't end up with halloween hair. try that it will work out for ya. good luck.

When I was in high school that happened to me. Then I started to do my hair myself..with the cheap Revlon 2.99 bottle of haircolour...I left the dye in for an hour, about 20 mins over the recommended time, and my haircolour came out perfectly!! You have to leave your hairdye in longer. Stay away from ash and golden. It leaves a purple/ green dye in your hair or a nasty golden tone.Use Ultra blondes or Ultra natural blonde hair dye.

I think it's strange that if you have pretty light hair anyways that you can't find anyone to highlight it correctly. Anyways, if it is kind of orange you can always tone it which will get rid of any unwanted hues.

if you have blonde hair it will naturally get bleached by the actual sun in the summer. There was this guy in my class who had golden blonde hair that was a medium brown near the base. When he came back to college after summer vacation, it was practically platinum blonde!

Jet black hair. I have really dark brown hair and I think dark hair looks better. I don't really like blonde hair.
