No they do not go to hell. The saying that souls of those who commited suicide go to hell refers to the sufferings endured by the soul.

Every soul comes into this world due to its karmas. The timing of the birth, the parents, the physical appearance, personality, state of mind, strengths, weknesses etc is all determned by one's past karmas.

The soul has to go through its life as it is and work towards washing of the karmas. When a person commits suicide this flow is interrupted. The soul is not yet destined to move to another life as it has not complted its karmic duties of this life.

The soul neither moves to the upper worlds ( heaven ) nor to the lower worlds ( hell ) and nor does it take another birth. It hangs about aimlessly in the astral world which is a world of light and energy paralled to our own world. It is said, the soul suffers immense mental agony for years in the astral world.

This is probably why it is said that if you commit suicide you go to hell.

Those who are adamant that a person who takes his life is committing a mortal sin, and will go to hell, are basing their belief on church doctrine rather than on the Bible. Scripture is silent on the subject. There are no verses that say "He who takes his own life shall be damned." According to Scripture, only one sin does not have forgiveness, and that is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit (see Mark 3:29 footnote). That means there is forgiveness for every other sin.

Some quote 1 Corinthians 3:17, which says that God will destroy someone who "defiles" the temple of the Holy Spirit. Yet, there is disagreement about what it means to defile the temple. Does this include suicide? Does it include illicit drug abuse (slow suicide), prescription drug abuse, cigarettes (deliberately breathing in poisons that will eventually kill), tattoos, over-eating (digging a grave with your spoon), or alcohol abuse?

God forbid that we add to the pain of someone who has lost a loved one through the tragedy of suicide, by making a judgment about their eternal destiny. God is the ultimate Judge, and we should therefore leave the issue in His hands. It would be wise to follow the biblical example and not come to any verdict in the case of suicide.

It depends on the individuals personal religious beliefs. I have met some Christians who believe this, and other Christians who do not. Personally, I believe that we all go Home when we die ( no matter how our end comes).

When Jesus died on the cross for you, his blood washed away all of your sins. A sin is anything done that displeases God. If you accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour and turn away from the sin in your life, you will have eternal life with Jesus in heaven. You will be saved from eternal separation from Jesus.(hell)

The only sin God does not forgive, is the sin of never accepting Him as Lord. If you never accept Jesus and ask him into your heart, all of your sins remain and you will go to hell.

As a Christian, we all still sin, but we strive to please God. We all fail. We should ask for forgiveness when we do fall short.

In general, that is a Catholic belief. Otherwise, if you are saved, you go to heaven.

Not if they're saved. If they are saved, they go to Heaven.
