Holyday means a day set aside for the celebration of religious ferstival.
It is the right of the Pagans, the Roman Catholic Church and other religious group to celebrate Christmas Day Easter Day and some other days which they have declared it to be holyday for them, however these are false holydays because christsmas day as declared is not the true birth date of Jesus Christ. It was not stated in the bible about the date of birth of Jesus Christ and it was the V atican who declared it to be December 25 as the birth of Jesus. Likewise, the Easter day is not also in the bible to celebrtate. It was also declared b y the vatican.
There are number of days which the Roman Catholics declared it as holydays b ut not on the bible, like the said festival wherein they are having parade around a certain town carrying the graven image of that wooden god which they worship and this is also wrong which is against the law of God.
When a christmas gift is given to you voluntarily and not to the extent of asking or requesting, you can accept that gift provided you are not celebrating with them on that certain occasion. If wrap on a christmas paper when given to you tear it immediately and throw it in a waste basket and take the contents and if you do not like it, give it to another person without his knowledlge (itiquette)
If you have no belief on the day which the y celebrate, do not join them and let them alone so that there will be no hurt feelings. I repeat that is their right.

It's the sad truth.
-Jesus was born in the Spring and not in the Winter.
-Atheists believe there is God, but don't believe in God.
-The Bible is treated as a biased myth, and re-interpreted over and over. The true Bible language was Assyrian.
-Christmas is replaced with Santa Claus as "Father Christmas".
-The Easter Bunny took away the meaning of Easter which means that Christ has risen.
But when I was little, my parents did not take away the true meaning of these holidays. There was no skepticism involved and people turning an innocent past time into a travesty was unheard of. My parents only had me read, draw, and watch only half an hour of cartoons. Every Sunday morning as a child, I would read the comics especially the holiday ones.
These holidays were just simplified holidays for family and friends to get together and express one another's thoughts of kindness and humanity. Paganism was hardly heard of until I got older reading about it in college.
It's the "fundamentalists" that turn it sour for everyone, especially the children. And these negative minds should be re-evaluated. Seriously!

Obviously, holidays like Christmas and Easter were pagan holidays. But, they were in celebration of natural events. I think ALL religions should quit claiming these (obviously) important times and those days should be set aside to celebrate the natural events they're in honor of.
I certainly don't agree with Christianity but at Christmas I decorate the Christmas tree and give/receive presents...everything I do has nothing to do with any religion. I try to use the phrase 'Winter Solstice'-which is an event of nature.
Easter is easily converted to a spring festival, but I still spend Easter Sunday with my family.
I don't find that to be hypocritical. I feel it is just a way of trying to meet those you care about halfway.

I celebrate Christmas (by giving gifts) and St. Patrick's day as well, to honor my family and remember the christian and christian-Irish part of my heritage. And I celebrate Samhain to honor my family and my dead ancestors and to celebrate the pagan-Irish part of my heritage (plus, masks and pumpkins are a lot of fun). I'm not giving up Halloween because Crom or Lugh or Brigid aren't real, any more than I will give up Christmas because Jesus wasn't really a god, or born of a virgin, or because he never came back from the dead. So if you want to fantasize that I'm a hypocrite, then be honest, and sell your house and car and computer and move to Pennsylvania to live with the Amish, because Atheistic science brought about most of the high tech luxuries you depend upon every day. Therefore, if you are a Christian, you should not be using these things.

Ha-ha, wow, you're young.
Everyone knows that Christmas and Easter have roots in pagan holidays. How do you think that early Christians got pagans to convert? Christians converted pagan holidays. Ha-ha.
Perhaps atheists are a little hypocritical when they take presents given under the pretence of a holiday they profess not to believe in, however, perhaps they don't want to throw their religion (or lack thereof) in everyone's faces, and they accept the presents as a sign of friendship, instead of as a sign of religion.

Many/most cultures world wide have always had celebrations of some sort during certain times of the year...so most humans have been involved in some kind of celebrations forever, some people have just stolen from each other and many of us just celebrate what we grew up with...we, my family, celebrate Christmas as a family focused occasion, not a religious holiday.

Yes, most of the holidays celebrated in Western culture originally came from pagan roots. What are you going to do now? Divorce yourself from Western society and live like some Middle Eastern? Why can't you see your faith is out of place in the West? Why don't you move to the Middle East and try to convert everyone to your One True Faith, and other fanatical extremist things, while we decent pagan Westerners enjoy our freedom from your oppressive death cult? Have you prayed to your Hanged God to destroy the world lately?

It's OK. Really. We (Pagans) just don't idolize our Holidays. Also, I have a brother in law and his family are Christian we celebrate Christmas with them, to be with them. We give and take presents from them because we respect their decison and we love them.

All of the Christian holidays are Pagan holidays. Days such as Thanksgiving and Mother's Day and Father's Day don't count because they are secular holidays and were never based on religion.
