i got a ring from my now husband as a christmas present and one as a promise ring. ive gotten other rings from boyfriends in the past as regular gifts with no significance like just for my birthday or as a thinking of you gift.

A boy can give you a ring at anytime in a relationship, not just for engagements/weddings/anniversaries. My boyfriend gave me a right hand ring the first Christmas we were together. There was no specific reason, other then it being Christmas, for the ring. It was a nice ring too, my birthstone surrounded by diamonds. I still wear it and we have been together 3 years.
