Right two hairdressers have told me different things. First one is my cousin says if I bleach my hair again I'll go back to my orange colour I had and she'll have to go through the whole process with my hair again but someone on here who also is a hairdresser says thats incorrect because bleach dosn't put the colour back in it takes the colour out this was about 3 weeks ago. I really need another opinion on this please help =[
I really hate the yellowy blonde I have now I know it might go white but I want it more white than yellow

bleach takes the colour out honey! bleach is designed to destroy the pigement colour in your hair! and thats why when you bleach your hair it becomes so course!

i advise that you re-bleach your hair! this will take the yellow/brassy tone out of your hair! it may slighty change the condition of your hair but if you use the right conditioning treatments your hair will restore itself!

your cousins wrong and the hairdresser is right!

hope that helps!

Bleach does take colour out of hair. I can't believe some of the answers here from some people- do not leave the bleach on until your hair is white., it will seriously damage your hair. When bleaching hair you should only lift the colour to a pale orange/dark yellow, you should then apply an ash colour toner to neutralise the colour.
As you have already got yellowish blonde you could try an ash toner on your hair now, just make sure you buy one suitable for bleached hair.
Someone has already mentioned blue shampoo, these work really well and would help you hair colour problem.

I promise you this.... I've had my hair highlighted for over 10 years - and a few screw ups by myself.

1) You need to begin shampooing with Purple/Blue shampoo. Either Aveda Blue Malva and or Shimerlights.

2) The reason your hair is orange/yellow straw looking is because the highlighting kit you used, you didn't leave it on long enough. Your hair will go through different stages of color and the last before highlighted will be orange then yellow - it's an awful color.

3) What you do is purchase another Highlighting kit and pull strands through the cap and leave on until all strands are WHITE... Once they are white that will mix with the color you have thus creating an illusion your hair is all highlighted without all the orange/yellow.

Again, I promise you on this one - your hair is not going to fall out. Also, when you apply the bleach to your hair ensure you place the cover on your head and you can also use a blow-dryer to help with the activation of the color.

The white will blend in with the yellow/orange tones....

I've had orange/yellow hair before and it's because I removed it too soon because I got scared. I was told by very high end salons......

UPDATE:
DO NOT REBLEACH YOUR ENTIRE HEAD!!! Pull it through a cap and leave on until white...

UPDATE: 03.26.07
I don't know why I received a thumbs down - If i were you I would now call a High End Salon and tell them my proposal and you'll see for your self. I'm not trying to get anypoints whatsoever - I've just been where you are at more than once!!!!

Hi bleach strips the colour from the hair so if you bleach it again with a 12% peroxide and bleach it will go white thats a fact you will not get the orange colour unless have a dark colour in your hair. Ive done it loads of times.

bleach removes your color. Now if your cousin says that you will just go back to orange.....then it sounds as though you did it yourself using a store bought kit......her is some information on any store bought hair color kit......some do work......but when it comes to bleach....they do not use the same volume peroxide that the salons use....and it is not hydrogen peroxide either. Also....if your hair is too light and you want to go back to your natural color......if you do not know what you are doing.....you hair will end up orange, blue, purple, and even green.

Try a shampoo and conditioner that reduces "brassy" color. You can usually find a good one at the salon or try Sally's too.
Tell them you want to take the brass color out of your hair- after a few washings it will look more white, less yellow. Also use a protective leav in conditioner for color treated hair. It will help reduce color change.

hope that helps!!

bleaching it will remove the reddish color. If you decide to bleach make sure that you use a quality conditioner after washing and use a leave in conditioner everyday to prevent dryness.

Be careful coloring your hair too soon. It may damage it. It should not go back to the orange color, but make sure the beautician knows her stuff, so she doesn't fry your hair.
