My friends want me to bring back some British toffee and I am hoping on buying tea and candy to bring back home. Can I bring food I bought in England into the United States or will it be confiscated at customs?

Prepackaged food like Tea and Candy are fine. Meats, veggies and plants are a no no as the Brits have mad cow and there's always the chance of bugs with the veggies or plants. You'd have to have a ton of the stuff before they'd try to charge you duty on it.

I would imagine as long as you don't bring back a LOT of stuff. You might have to pay duty. A certain amount might be duty free. Ask your travel agent. My fiancee in the UK just sent me a gift basket with cheeses and biscuits included, so some things will be allowed anyway. British Toffee is so yumo! Also, try some Jelly Babies(not Jelly Bellies).

Yes, it's fine. I brought back wine from Italy and chocolate from Switzerland and had no troubles at US customs or anything.

Now, if you were buying in bulk then there might be some questions....
